Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how ROG VPN (Android package com.rogsoftwaregroup.vpn, published by ROG Software Group — "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and shares information when you install and use the app. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
1. Information we collect
a) Collected automatically when you connect
- Connection log: when a VPN connection is established, the app sends our server the app version, Android version, device brand and model, the type of internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) and the identifier of the server/profile you used.
- Public IP and approximate location: the app queries a third-party IP-information service to show you your current public IP address, country, region, city and internet provider, for example to confirm the VPN is working. This is displayed to you inside the app.
- Session token: an anonymous token issued by our service so the app can retrieve the server list and settings. It is not linked to your name or contact details.
- Device integrity signal: the app may use Google Play Integrity to verify that the app is genuine and runs on a legitimate device, to prevent abuse.
b) Usage and diagnostic data (Firebase / Google)
- App interactions and events, crash reports, performance traces, app-instance identifiers and device/OS information, collected through Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring.
- A push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send service messages, and in-app messages (Firebase In-App Messaging) such as update or announcement notices.
- Remote configuration and server information stored in Firebase Realtime Database.
c) Advertising data
- ROG VPN shows ads through Google AdMob, including native/banner and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect your Advertising ID, IP address, device and app information and ad interactions to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
- Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), a consent form based on Google's User Messaging Platform lets you choose whether to allow personalised ads.
d) Stored only on your device
- App settings, selected server, per-app proxy selection, bypass lists, routing rules and data-usage statistics (hourly, daily, monthly) are stored locally on your device and shown to you in the app. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes them.
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not require your name, e-mail address, phone number or payment card details to use the app.
- We do not access your contacts, SMS, photos, files, camera, microphone or precise (GPS) location.
- We do not inspect, record or store the content of your traffic or the websites, apps and messages you use through the VPN.
3. Android permissions and why we need them
- VPN service: required by Android to create the VPN tunnel. Android shows a system dialog the first time you connect.
- INTERNET: to connect to servers, load server lists and display ads.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE: to detect connectivity changes, reconnect and report the connection type.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: to keep the VPN running reliably in the background with a status notification.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: to show the connection status and service messages.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: to restore the service after your device restarts.
- QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: to list installed apps so you can choose which apps use the VPN or bypass it (per-app proxy). This list stays on your device and is not uploaded.
- AD_ID (Advertising ID): used by the advertising SDK for ad delivery and measurement. You can reset or delete it in Android settings.
4. How we use information
- To provide, operate and maintain the VPN service and keep it stable and secure.
- To show you server status, your IP address and your data usage.
- To diagnose crashes, improve performance and develop new features.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised or modified copies of the app.
- To display ads and rewarded features that help keep the app free.
- To send important service, security and update notices.
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. Third-party services
The app integrates the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Services, Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform – advertising and consent.
- Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, Cloud Messaging, In-App Messaging, Realtime Database) – analytics, stability and messaging.
- Google Play Integrity – app and device integrity checks.
- ip-api.com – public IP address and location lookup shown in the app.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only (i) with the service providers listed above, to the extent needed to operate the app; (ii) when required by law, court order or a valid request from authorities; (iii) to protect our rights, our users or the security of the service; or (iv) in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.
7. Data retention
Connection logs and diagnostic data are kept only as long as necessary for the purposes above and are then deleted or anonymised. Data stored on your device remains until you clear it or uninstall the app.
8. Security
Traffic between your device and the VPN servers is encrypted. We take reasonable technical measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Our service providers (such as Google) may process data in countries other than your own. By using the app you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.
10. Your choices and rights
- Ads: reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads, and manage consent in the app when prompted.
- Notifications: disable them in Android system settings.
- Local data: clear usage statistics from the Usage screen or clear the app data.
- Disconnect / uninstall: you can disconnect the VPN or uninstall the app at any time.
- Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its processing. Contact us using the details below.
11. Acceptable use
ROG VPN must be used in compliance with applicable laws. You are responsible for how you use the service, and we may restrict access for users who abuse it or violate the law.
12. Children's privacy
